Filter bad readings in GeoExplorer (ARTICLE)

One important step to maintain your data integrity in GeoExplorer is to use data filters to automatically reject readings of the wrong target. Before we start applying the filters you will want to ensure all your prisms have been read correctly on their most recent measurement. To that point the best time to apply the filters is immediately after adding your prisms.

  1. To do this start on the Observation tab and check off any or all prisms you want to apply the filter to then click Edit. I recommend to apply this to all prisms(click the check in the top left to check all)

  2. Choose Filters on the left, then click Use Reject Parameters until it shows a checkmark. I typically use only the DELTA DISTANCE filter 1.0 foot. If you have prisms close in distance and angles you may want to add the DELTA ANGLE filters but those are more rare cases.

  3. Click Save. After you save queue up a measurement and make sure all your prisms still read.
  4. If some prisms do not measure due to the filter, toggle the filter off, measure the prism, make sure it’s the correct reading, then toggle the filter back on. The filter always uses the most recent reading as the measurement to compare against.
